Change is an inevitable part of life, and every transition brings its own set of challenges and opportunities. The Series has so far explored the importance of a coaching mindset and skills, captured in the ICF Core Coaching Competencies, as well as mindfulness strategies in our coaching practice. It has also delved into the universal stages of transition - from letting go of the familiar, through the uncertainty of the in-between, to embracing acceptance and hope. Each individual's journey is unique, but growth often emerges from navigating these stages.
Sessions 1 to 5 have offered diverse perspectives and approaches for supporting clients through change: Claire Pedrick emphasised the importance of authenticity and empathy in coaching, beautifully demonstrated as: "For you to be you, I need to be me." Dr Ben Van Den Assem shared in-depth research into the positive impact of experienced coach practitioners integrating mindfulness, while Dr Marcia Reynolds highlighted how coaches can foster compassion for clients working through grief because all change indicates loss. With courage comes growth. In the fourth session, Dr Katia Vlachos reframed reinvention as a rediscovery of oneself rather than becoming someone new. And Karen Foy unpacked what drives perfectionism and showed us how to bring vulnerability as a strength to our coaching conversations.
The feedback provided by participants highlights an understanding that to be in best service of humanity, showing up with humanness is fundamental. And how this makes all the difference when hearing, seeing and validating the human experience of change and transition.
With many opportunities for development throughout the Series, we hope attendees walk away with valuable insights, practical tools, and new connections. Experimentation of different facilitation styles and tech has meant we can learn which are most helpful for inclusion. From live coaching demos to reflective exercises, polls via Menti, slides, breakout rooms, Slido and engagement via Chat or unmuting of microphones, we are openly exploring how to increase participation from all.
A key takeaway from the Series is change happens through awareness and action.
If you are not registered or know who might be interested in registering, the Series continues until Session 8 on 2nd April 2025. There is still good reason to register. Recordings, anonymised Chat and Slides from all 8 Sessions are available to those who register.
See you there!
