April President Message

Hello to all Fellow UK ICF chapter members  

Spring is here, it is a time of growth and renewal for us as a chapter and for each of us as coaches, supervisors and experts in people and organisation development. 

Cultivating our volunteer board succession and next leaders is a high priority for Guy and I as co-president of the UK ICF board. Every spring we actively review, identify and re-confirm our board succession for all directors and associate board members. Whether you are a long-term member or new to the chapter, your unique experience and passion for coaching, development or taking businesses to the next level (including expertise in operational delivery, legal, marketing, communication, digital and AI) can help guide the future of the UK ICF Chapter. If you feel the call to a leadership position as a volunteer, do get involved and contact us at president@coachingfederation.org.uk. This is your opportunity to shape the future of coaching in the UK and beyond.

Earlier this month, Guy and I had the privilege of attending the ICF Global Leader Forum (GLF), a gathering of ICF chapter leaders from around the world. The energy, collaboration and shared vision was truly inspiring. Key discussions focused on expanding coaching’s reach, driving inclusivity and embracing not only innovation and also AI as part of our progression. As a chapter, we will bring these global insights into our local strategy and programming throughout the year.

On a different note, have you noticed that the ICF code of ethics has been updated? It reflects our understanding of what it means to be coaching in an evolving world. From clarifying boundaries in digital  coaching to reinforcing cultural sensitivity and inclusion, the changes support all of us in delivering the highest standards of ethical practice. If you have missed the wonderful Ethics forum, masterfully facilitated by Beth Hope and Panos Malakoudis, do check out what has changed.

Finally, the ICF Awards program is now open for nomination with a deadline of 25 April 2025. You can self-nominate, and nominate great colleagues or organisations you would like to recognise. Whether it is ground-breaking research, impactful coaching and supervision programs or exceptional leadership, these awards shine a light on individuals and organisations that are raising the bar in coaching.

Guy and I are looking forward to seeing many of you at the virtual AGM and Have your say session at 10:00am on Friday 16 May. Until then have a productive, ethical and fun coaching and supervision time.
