Frequently asked questions

If you can’t find an answer to your question here please get in touch.

How do I choose the right coach?

Start with what you want help with, then look for a coach whose experience and approach feel right for you. Every coach in the directory holds an ICF credential. You can search by coaching theme and location, and each profile shows who the coach works with, how they coach, their credential and how to get in touch. If you can, speak to more than one coach before you decide. Good chemistry matters as much as expertise.

What do ACC, PCC and MCC mean?

These are the three ICF credential levels, awarded by ICF Global: Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Master Certified Coach (MCC). Each level reflects more coach-specific training and coaching experience, and a commitment to the ICF Code of Ethics. A higher level doesn’t automatically mean a better fit for you. All three show a coach has met ICF standards. You can compare the levels on the ICF Global website.

Can coaching take place online?

Yes. Many coaches work by video call or phone, and some also meet in person or offer a mix. Each coach’s profile shows how they deliver coaching, so you can choose what suits you.

How much does coaching cost?

Fees vary depending on the coach, their experience and the type of coaching, and coaches set their own. Where a coach has chosen to show a price range, you’ll see it on their profile. Otherwise, contact them directly to ask about fees and packages.

What happens in a coaching session?

A coach will help you explore what matters to you, think through your options and decide what to do next. It is a confidential, supportive conversation, and your coach asks questions rather than telling you what to do. You usually agree a goal at the start, and sessions often continue over a series of meetings. Length and frequency vary by coach, so ask what to expect when you get in touch.
