Within the ICF, conversations around diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are becoming more visible—and more essential. The DEIB volunteering initiative, as part of the Member Resource Group (MRG) Kaleidoscope, is a community built to support and celebrate the wide spectrum of identities and experiences related to sexuality and gender. At the same time, it is a welcoming space for anyone—especially allies—who want to learn, reflect, and contribute to a more inclusive coaching profession.
We are a group of coaches, working with and for other coaches within the ICF ecosystem. Our aim is simple: to create opportunities for connection, awareness, and growth that ultimately strengthen how we show up for our clients and for each other.
What does this look like in practice? Our activities are designed to be both meaningful and accessible. For example, our “Belonging Beanbag” sessions offer a relaxed, safe space where members can share, listen, or simply be present—no pressure, just connection. Our “Member Spotlight” events highlight colleagues and their personal or professional journeys, creating space for voices and experiences that may not always be heard.
We also host more interactive and social gatherings. A recent social mixer focused on neurodiversity sparked thoughtful conversations and helped broaden perspectives in an informal setting. Storytelling events allow members to explore identity and lived experience through narrative, often leading to deeper empathy and insight. And through collaborative events with other MRGs as part of ICF Engage, we bring intersectionality into focus, recognizing that inclusion is never one-dimensional.
Kaleidoscope is intentionally open. Whether you are already engaged in DEIB work or just starting to explore these topics, there is space for you here. Some members join to learn, others to share, and many to do both. Allies play an important role in this community, bringing curiosity and a willingness to engage in honest, sometimes challenging, but always respectful conversations.
At its heart, coaching is about awareness, presence, and growth. Kaleidoscope supports all three by creating a space where coaches can expand their perspectives and deepen their understanding of the diverse realities people experience.
As ICF continues to grow as a global community, initiatives like Kaleidoscope help ensure that inclusion remains a lived value, not just an aspiration. If you are looking for a space to connect, learn, or contribute, we warmly invite you to join us via the ICF.
