Business Psychologist & Coach – Profiling and developing leaders and teams

In 2001 I started working as a business psychologist, helping organisations bring people, including leaders, into the right roles. Through both research and working closely with leaders, I profiled and assessed hundreds of leaders in both the public and private sector, and developed various leadership behavioural models. Taking this in-depth knowledge, I moved to working on a one-to-one basis with leaders, to embed them into and get the most out of their leadership role.

Having worked across a range of industries, I’ve got a broad perspective of what good leadership looks like in both the public and private sector. I’ve worked with leaders in the following sectors: technology and information services, construction and engineering, housing, energy, local and central government, police, public health services and charities.

My coaching style? As a leadership coach with a background in psychology, I take a holistic approach to leadership development — including personal as well as work-based challenges — to work with the whole person and everything they bring to their leadership role. I also use tools and exercises to assist people in exploring themselves — helping them identify and develop their personal strengths, capabilities, resilience and self-confidence.

Using positive psychology, I help leaders identify their unique edge. I don’t believe in moulding someone into a certain type of leader, but instead give people the tools and confidence they need to discover and hone their own leadership style. I ask the right questions, at the right time, to help people find motivation and implement change.

I view the relationship as a thinking partnership, helping people find their way while I’m right there with them. I’ve been described as “kind with an inner steel” — I’m not afraid to take people through difficult issues and uncomfortable emotions, but it’s always done with kindness and support.

Leadership coaching has a huge impact on both my coachees and the people they lead. I’m here to support my charges through meaningful changes that will see them confidently leading healthier, happier teams.
