Joanna Shipley
Offering Wayfinder coaching as well as horse-facilitated Equus Coaching, Joanna helps people find and follow their authentic, true desires for a life that delights them. Special interest: holistic practitioners, Martha Beck fans, heart-led leaders
Joanna is a UK ICF PCC and Group Co-Lead for the Bath and Bristol Local Coaching Group. She is an experienced coach trainer, mentor and coach. She delivers Wayfinder Life Coach Training for Martha Beck Inc. internationally, online 1:1 and group coaching and works with horses to deliver Equus Coaching (Horse Facilitated Coaching) for individuals and groups in the Wiltshire/Gloucestershire areas.
A former army officer and experienced leader, economist, marketing executive and homeopath/self employed business owner, Joanna brings a range of skills and experience to her practice. A coach since 2018, but with 30 years of coaching and being a therapist in these many different roles, she brings a calm presence, and warm humour, to her coaching style.
Joanna is passionate about assisting people to find their authentic, true desires. In helping them to rewild. This makes for coaching on every level – mental, emotional, physical and even spiritual (in whatever way that is meaningful for the client). She helps people step away from the socially cultivated drives for achievement that often feel short-lived or fatigueing when we attain them, but to find and follow those deep yearnings that we may even lose touch with completely when we become over busy, off track or seek approval. By working on cultivating awareness of those deeper true desires, and removing what gets in the way of stepping towards these, she helps individuals, healers and entrepreneurs create work and life that delights them.
Well versed in complimentary and alternative health (she is an RSHom and holds a degree in Integrated Medicien) she enjoys delivering talks, leading groups workshops and joining lively panel discussions on how to follow your heart, intution and natural leadership. She particularly enjoys bringing people out of doors, to be coached on the ground with a horse present. As both herd (social) and prey animals, horses give us unhindered feedback as they read our nervous systems and emotions to show us what is really going on for us underneath in the most non-judgmental, and compassionate way. Even for non-horse folk (and she has coached many!) the impact is visceral and long lasting in nature.
Joanna’s 1:1 practice started in 2006, with various modalities, before settling into her current mix of many coaching methods and practices for an eclectic toolbox that works.
Joanna lives with her husband and two teenage sons in Wiltshire, where she loves creating group and individual programmes, walking her working cocker spaniel Cora, yoga, with a special devotion to an evolving personal spiritual practice – think the morning pages and meditation to Sedona Method and the Way of Council.
Joanna enjoys reading books by authors such as: Martha Beck, Byron Katie, Hale Dwoskin, Lester Levenson, Anita Moorjani, Charles Eisenstein, Julia Cameron, Steven Pressfield, Thich Nhat Hahn, Joanna Macy, Jack Zimmerman & Virginia Coyle, Lisa Miller, Oliver Burkeman, Linda Kohanov, David R Hawkins, Liz Gilbert, Mary Morissey, Steven Hayes, Debbie Ford, Joe Dispenza, Lynne Twist and more.
