Gillian Gabriel
I am a qualified and ICF credentialed Professional Certified Coach (PCC) as well as a qualified Coaching Supervisor. I am a learner and gain a huge amount of personal satisfaction from learning with, from and alongside others.
Experience
I worked for 26 years in the John Lewis Partnership (JLP), understanding retail from the roots up managing teams of 4 to 100 covering shops and Head Office. I have been a qualified Coach since 2015 – an internal Coach within JLP (6 years), an independent Coach since the first pandemic lockdown in 2020, going independent as well as becoming an Associate Coach in 2021. I’ve been a Coaching Supervisor since 2019. I have experience coaching corporate sponsored clients in the private sector e.g. JLP, Lloyds Banking Group; self-funded clients from the public sector e.g. Accenture; freelance coaching in the voluntary sector e.g. mental health charity MIND; and direct clients from a variety of backgrounds.
Who am I
I am a learner and gain a huge amount of personal satisfaction from learning with, from and alongside others. Learning and development (L&D) is my soul work having spent over 23 years in L&D roles. I’ve worked as a leader, line manager, team member, and in matrix teams where individual growth was my focus to achieve results. I am always developing myself in some way, as well as meditating daily, running several times a week, appreciating walking in nature, love reading, and spending time with my partner and friends.
Why coaching
I understand what it’s like to have self doubt, feel a bit lost, and to need time to think. I believe in coaching as a powerful tool of self discovery, awareness, realisation and action planning. I’ve experienced and witnessed coaching having a significant impact on individuals who feel stuck in some way and are seeking support to untangle the spaghetti inside. I’m a strong believer that we all have potential, the ability to challenge ourselves alongside the capacity to move forward. I think being truly listened to in a safe environment and empowered to find answers and solutions can be remarkable.
My approach
Through coaching I can support you to face vulnerability and uncertainty, make progress, and achieve results individual to you. I can enable you to reflect, think, and find solutions. I’m skilled in listening deeply and can help you notice things about yourself you may not have realised before through sharing observations in an honest gentle way. I can help you make connections, reach a deeper understanding about yourself, and make sense of things. I’m empathic, respectful and professional. Building trust is important to me and what we discuss will be treated with care, respect, and in a non-judgemental way. I will work with you rather than do it for you. I’ll support you to challenge your thinking, perceptions, and assumptions. I’m very comfortable with other’s emotions and will encourage you to be comfortable being yourself with me.
