About
I am Co-President of the UK Chapter of ICF, having joined the Board in 2022. I came to coaching after a first career as a senior officer in the British military, followed by board-level roles as Chair and Executive Director across a national membership body and several charities, and three years as Operations Director, where I turned an ailing SME into a profitable one. I am a Professional Certified Coach and work freelance for coaching and facilitation providers and for a charity focused on burnout prevention. My interests sit in leadership, team coaching and the social value coaching can create. I revel in working alongside Laure, bringing governance experience, operational grip and a willingness to move the awkward issues forward.
My role at the UK Chapter of ICF
As Co-President, I share leadership of the Board with Laure Fraval, set strategy with the Directors, and make sure it turns into work our members can actually see. I support and steward Board decision-making, and oversee our governance and the current website review. Alongside Laure, I act as a link between the Chapter, ICF Global and our partner organisations.
Why I volunteer
I volunteer because coaching changed how I lead for the better, and I would like more people to have access to that. I enjoy the company of coaches who take the work seriously without taking themselves too seriously, and I like building things that last. To me, coaching is all about the relationship.
Current areas of focus
- Governance: the Articles review and the proposed two-tier membership model
- Board development: appointing and settling new Co-Directors, and embedding our leadership model
- Partnerships: Pro Bono and Low Bono programmes, including Ignite, and our work with charities and employers
- Member value: the November conference at Ashridge and wider member engagement
- Integrated working, so directorates plan and deliver together rather than in silos
